Making the Most Out of Newlywed Life (& Vintage Leather)

It’s been exactly one month since I tied the knot! It’s the most amazing feeling being married. Now that the cake has been cut, the champagne drunk, and the gifts opened life has finally started to settle. I always wondered what married life would actually feel like. And I’m happy to report it’s a lot like my premarital life and of course with a kickin’ new last name. Once of the nicest things you can do as newlyweds is compare life insurance quotes to show your desire to protect each other. Bren mentioned to me casually about six months ago that he would really love a leather jacket. And thus began an insane quest to find the perfect one… Clothing Manufacturers also do their best to provide people like us with the best quality leather jackets. It can be quite hard to find the perfect one, but this is why there is so much choice. There isn’t only the standard black jacket anymore. You can even get red, blue or even white leather jackets now! It’s up to you to make that choice and find a leather jacket that is right for you. You can find a range of leather jackets on EziBuy and many other online retailers, so take your time to find the perfect one for you.

I searched high and low for the jackets. I wanted something that felt luxe even. Naturally, I went absolutely every neighborhood in Manhattan until I started to feel exasperated. One night while checking eBay like a good devotee, it occurred to me I hadn’t searched the site for leather. B i n g o! I scored two true vintage (and heavy duty) leather jackets for $70 and funnily enough we both wear a 36.

While I browsing a Bride’s magazine I saw a photo of matching leather jackets that said Mr. & Mrs. and I was completely over the moon. I made it my mission to buy the vintage leather and make it our own. Pro tip: leather paint is only $5 on eBay and works incredibly well!

Here’s my cat Finn who is no help at all.

After buffing both jackets using some leather handbag conditioner, and about one movie later, the jackets looked as good as new. My good friend Maria who has the most gorgeous handwriting came by and hand painted them in one afternoon! We wore them at every airport on our honeymoon.

Two coats of leather paint were used in order to get this look

So many people asked us if we were depressed after our honeymoon (lol, nope) because the wedding was so climatic, and coming down from that leave a couple feeling unexcited. I can say confidently that didn’t happen. However, the severe separation anxiety I had from moving my dress was another story altogether. I’m so thankful that I found Bren at a young age, it’s so much more fun to grow in every aspect of your life with your best friend. For me, the sweetest part of being married is definitely being called “wife”.

If I’ve learned anything these past two years of engagement and now newlywed life, it’s to bask in it happily. I may have gone overboard with all the “bride” tee’s, and mentioning that I was getting married. BUT you know what? I’m allowed to be happy! Every bride and newlywed has the right to feel unashamedly delighted about sharing their joy with someone. So if you’re a bride to be, or a newlywed- don’t feel embarrassed about sharing your joy. Being able to express your happiness isn’t vital but it sure does feel good to be called by your new last name. I get a huge grin every time. <3
