I know it sounds incredibly biased but I really really have the best mom in the world. My mother is the sweetest, most generous, and all around best person in my life. This year for her birthday (a little early) I was able to help be a part of a surprise party her best friend Tara threw her! It was quite cold so it was held indoors but then Tara used an Albuquerque tent rentals service to put a party tent in the backyard. It was quite nice being able to go in and out with ease. It got a little warm at times with so many people so having the backyard space was a good place to cool off. Tara did such a fantastic job of organizing everything for this extra special event. She even went to the trouble of contacting a chemical toilet hire company to supply some portable toilets. Over 100 people were expected to turn up so hiring extra toilets was essential! I thought this was such a good idea as it meant that nobody had to go through the house to use the bathroom. There is so much to think about when organizing a party but Tara really did think of everything!
I snuck into town on December 13th. My mom’s surprise birthday party was scheduled for Saturday, December 17th. I’m sure you’re wondering why I got into town so early. Well- I had to go see my eye doctor. *Note I have one eye- the other is a prosthetic and I haven’t found a doctor in NYC yet! I laid low at my best friend- and maid of honor’s house- Courtney! Funny how I always say house but I mean apartment most of the time. Brendan came with me and we spent so much time together relaxing and getting into the holiday spirit by watching old Christmas movies.
My mom was SO surprised. There was a lot of screaming and even some tears. She had no idea that Bren and I were coming at all. My mom did get dressed up to the nines because she thought she was going to a Christmas party. It’s not an uncommon thing at all to go to a ton of holiday parties during the month of December and the entire day she kept calling me (while I was setting up!!) asking about what she should wear to the “holiday party”. Little did she know that she was asking me advice on what to wear to her own birthday! Her birthday party was so much fun and I’m really glad that she enjoyed herself. I only wish that I had gone through with buying those Custom Balloons that my friend recommended as that would have made it extra special so that everyone in the room wouldn’t forget whose birthday it is. Luckily they didn’t and we all still had a great time anyway. I will definitely look into them for future parties and events though!
My mom and I at my engagement party last year. <3[/caption] Happy birthday mom! I love you! And please make more lasagna! LOL <3
