There are so many blog posts and magazine articles about things that brides are TIRED of hearing but there are also things that Bride’s adore hearing! Here are my top ten things that Brides love hearing!

  1. “I am SO happy for you!!” Obvious but it still feels amazing to revel in your joy with a friend or someone you’ve never met.
  2. “You and _____ make such a wonderful couple. I know how much you love each other.” (This is what the entire wedding should be about, how much you truly love one another. I love it when people remind me they see it too!)
  3. “How is work/school/sport?” (It might sound strange but sometimes I just don’t want to talk about my wedding. I know. Totally nuts. It can be easy to forget that there is more to life than weddings when you’re about to have one. I always appreciate when anyone asks how the REST of my life is coming along!)
  4. “What can I do to help?” (Being a bride is extremely overwhelming at times, and even though she probably won’t take up your offer to help it feels good to know someone cares enough to ask. <3 )
  5. “Would you like me to come to your _____ appointment with you?” (This is one of my favourite things anyone can say lately because there are so many meetings, appointments, fittings etc. and especially when family isn’t close, having friends around for support means the world!)
  6. “Where are you registered?” 😉 (Self explanatory)
  7. “I can’t wait to be part of your special day!”
  8. “I love your choice of ______! It’s so beautiful and unique!” (Even though a bride is confident in her personal touches for her wedding, it still feelings ah-mazing when someone else recognizes all the extra effort you put in!)
  9. “I know of a great app/site/person that can do ____ for less!” (Everyone knows how incredibly expensive weddings are/can be, and if someone finds a great deal and wants to share their tips and tricks with you- it’s even better!)
  10. “I wish and pray for a long life of happiness together”. (This is the thing that can bring a tear to my eye no matter who says it. Giving your well wishes to a couple who is about to embark on a new journey together is truly the greatest gift you can ever give a couple.) <3

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I actually celebrated last night with Bren. We went out to Raclette – you know that video where a wheel of cheese is melted onto a plate of food? Yes that place! It was MAGICAL. I came home to a lot of flowers and a little treat from my favourite lingerie shop (La Petite Coquet) that makes me feel like I could happily show all on Nu Bay… Or not but you get the point. What were your plans for V- day? OR, if you’re not currently taken, singles awareness day!

Either way I hope you spread lots of love or get cozy with a cashmere sweater today. <3 with love, Belle

Getting Married at Saint Patrick'sGetting Married at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral!

Hello everyone!! It feels like a lifetime ago that I posted and a lot of you have been wondering where in the world I’ve wandered off to this time. Well as most of you know I’m getting married to my sweet Bren-whom I’ve been with for 5 years now. I’ve been elbows deep in color swatches, work, bridal magazines, and more. He was also busy looking into sites like, in order to plan a lads trip away. I guess I couldn’t say no. I should add that during this whole time I’ve had a smile plastered on my face. There’s so much to look into. From wedding invites, transport decisions such as arriving in something like a wedding limousine, a car, taxi or even a bus to the dress, bridesmaids and so much more. My next job is to send out wedding invitations to my wonderful family and friends! It’s been forever since I’ve spoken to some of my cousins so I’d imagine I’ll need to go online and find people and their new addresses to post the letter. I get a feeling this is going to be a long process…!

I have several updates for everyone. View Full Post

I’m back from my trip from France! Getting to go to France with Bren was such a dream come true. We spent the whole week in Paris, and spent one whole day touring around the Palace of Versailles and it’s gardens. I have been wanting to take a trip to Paris for as long as I can remember.

The garden was so beautiful and just when I thought that the day wasn’t going to get any better… Brendan asked me to marry him! Of course I said YES!

Everyone and their cousin has been asking me how it happened. It’s actually a very funny story.

I wanted lots of pictures of us together and Bren asked an older French couple to take photos of us.

While the couple was taking photos of us, he asked me if I’d like a present. I of course said yes! He had recently bought me a pair of pearl earrings and he told me he would probably get me a necklace to match. In my mind I thought for sure that it was a necklace. I did not, for one moment believe he would propose to me.

Brendan got down on one knee in front of my favorite section of the garden. The flowers and view of the rest of the gardens was incredible. I was in so much shock, I kept saying “is this real life” and “omg what is happening”.

Meanwhile, the married French woman realized what was happening and began to cheer and scream “regardez” (which means “look” in French) to her husband who was clearly very tired of touring the gardens and seemed half asleep. Suddenly the older couple that was previously moving around a little slowly became photographers and started moving swiftly all around us getting photos of what was happening. I was still so surprised I didn’t move! Brendan said I had a huge smile plastered on my face. The French woman came over to me and shook my arm and kept saying “regardez!” to look at Bren and the ring.

After about twenty seconds of complete shock. I finally screamed YES at Bren. The French couple gave us hugs and wished us well and said congratulations over and over again. As they were walking away we could hear the wife shouting excitedly “I can’t believe that happened! How beautiful!! I still can’t believe it!”

Afterwards we went to celebrate by having cheese, wine, and pastries at Angelina inside the Palace!

Here is another part of the garden that I could see from where Brendan proposed.

And here is one of the entrances to the gardens, the entrance really was astounding. Everything around the palace had a gold lacquer on it.

It was the most magical day. I have never in my life been so genuinely surprised! I can’t wait to be Mrs. Bakst!

Look back soon so I can show you just how wonderful the inside of the palace and the rest of our trip too!
