Today I decided to dress causual to hit the grocery stores. I found out today that shopping for food in NYC is quite different from what I’m used to. Of course there are regular grocery stores (nowhere close to they size of a Publix or Harris Teeter, but similarly structured). Most people shop small, buying meat at a butcher, buying fruit at a fruit stand, etc. I went to a butcher for the first time today and I went to a fish market. I can’t believe I waited this long to get my meat from a butcher’s. I couldn’t even tell you the reason why I’ve never been to one before; I just haven’t. My friend’s go quite often, and when they don’t, it will probably mean that they have hunted for their meat and will be using the best electric meat grinder that they have to prepare it. The type of meat that they prepare varies, it just depends on the animals that they’ve caught that day. They were telling me to have a look for a meat grinder myself the other day, but I’ve only just gone to the butchers for the first time and I only want to place all of my focus on one aspect at the moment. Shopping this way has helped to broaden my horizons.
Not only is it way cheaper to buy your groceries this way (so if you’re looking at how to save money around your home, you might want to consider this) but you also support small business at the same time. It’s important not to wear a super luxe shoe just in case you drop ice on yourself at the fish market, or fruit etc.
Why a poodle skirt for food shopping? I’m not usually a jeans and t-shirt kind of person and I really like the freedom that comes with wearing a longer skirt on a breezy day. It’s super easy to toss on a skirt and pair of oxfords. If you want to try something new from jeans and a t-shirt, try a t-shirt and a skirt! It sounds simple, but switching it up by just that much might give your outfits a whole new boost!

“How do you stay in shape even when you don’t have time to workout?!”
Handful of mint leaves
Thin slices of lemon
Thin slices of cucumber
Handful of ice
If I ate really heavy foods I add a small sliver of fresh ginger
I drink this every day. I swear by it. It’s a diuretic but it’s safe enough to use every day. It’s basically like a spa detox water but delicious and you don’t have to run to the bathroom every time you drink it.
Recently I have also started to introduce Blessed CBD capsules into my daily diet. A friend of mine recommended them to me and she told me that CBD products can have a positive impact on your metabolism as well as your overall health so I am intrigued to see whether I will be able to notice any results.
There is plenty of research to suggest that CBD has a wide range of health-boosting qualities including anti-inflammatory properties. Put simply, this can help to keep bloating at bay. I know that my friend has been using CBD products as part of her healthy new lifestyle for the past few months and she has felt a lot more energetic and less sluggish so I will let you know how I get on.
Oh, and remember, always speak to a doctor if you are considering using any CBD products or beginning a detox as not everything is suitable for everyone.
Anyway, as you all know, I am always on the lookout for new ways to stay fit and work exercise into my daily routine. When it comes to working out, I definitely prefer a more gentle approach though. For example, for a while now I have been tempted to give yoga a try.
Some friends of mine are yoga enthusiasts and they have told me that nowadays you can book yoga retreats where you can learn the latest techniques and even learn about what it takes to become a yoga teacher. Yoga has so many health benefits, I just cannot wait to get started.
Have you ever tried yoga? What are some of your favorite ways to stay fit and healthy? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
I’ve been thinking very seriously about the future of V&C lately.
Why should you care about what I have to say? On Fashion, beauty or any of it?
Because I’m a real girl breaking into the industry without the formal fashion background. I work in fashion but I still eat Taco Bell and wear sweatpants.
I realize that my blog and writing about fashion has taken a back seat and I’ve been feeling the need to sugar coat things. So, I’ve decided no longer! I will be honest with myself and everyone else.
Because if fashion wasn’t fun, why would anyone care?
