My good friend Audrey (who also took these photos!) came over with this gorgeous little yellow dress. Believe it or not she’s held on to it for years and it previously was her mother’s prom dress. 🙂
I love a pop of red so I tied a red cotton American Apparel sash and brought along my vintage 70’s YSL bag.
Fall has officially defended on us here in New York, New York. And while the anticipation of fall was rather large, it came rather shockingly fast. On the first day of autumn…a single leaf fell on the pavement in front of me, and immediately afterwards, I shivered.
It can be a little tricky dressing for fall here because the mornings and early afternoons can be freezing. Then, the late afternoons are sweltering. What are you to do? I like to keep a t-shirt or blouse on with short sleeves, or totally made of cotton, with a jacket that’s easy to remove.
There’s a beautiful little story behind this clutch. I first saw this in an advertistment in Cosmopolitan. I knew that one day in the future I would move to Manhattan. I remember telling my mother about it and showing her the photo. We looked high and low for the clutch and then one day… as I was walking out of a store in the mall. I saw it. I pressed my face a little too eagerly against the glass in Kate Spade and about five seconds later it was in my hands. A gift from my mom, I treasure this piece particularly. It was one I acquired from my hometown and I realized how monumental it was that I actually moved and could wear this piece. I get asked about it very often.

Spotted running around 34th street wearing faux fur and drinking a cappuccino (with soy). A very typical Belle sighting. ☕️💋☕️💋
Shoes: Givenchy (60’s)
Running around during Fashion Week is insane. If you are fortunate enough to be able to show up, be photographed and leave, then I understand how you can wear six inch heels, and a mini skirt. And you go girl!!!
I, however, find that I need to wear pants when I’m sprinting across several intersections. It’s just the easiest way to get around without flashing anyone. (Yes this is something we should all be concerned with).
Fashion Week is also about taking risks with your style, and bringing out those beautiful pieces that don’t normally go out. I paired a simple black dress and Burberry pants with this gorgeous 50′s skirt I received as a gift from my wonderful friend Kimsioux.
The second outfit I wore to New York Fashion Week was filled with lots of color. It’s a well known fact that most women in NYC wear black. And while I love noir, I love color even more. It can be easy to just want to fit in and shy away from what we love but I decided to be a little daring and wear bubble gum pink.
Love this little pin I found at a costume jewelry store in the meatpacking district.
Matched my Dior sneakers with this adorable little bow (actually a sash from a cocktail dress) Double duty!
