Tulle Over Stripes

When packing for any trip I love to envision what I will look like on the street walking by someone else. I ask myself if I want to look sophisticated, sexy, or fun. I pick pieces based on those answers. I had this tulle skirt custom made for me by my good friend Holly.

When you’re packing, lay everything out on your bed or flat surface so you can see every single article. Make outfits and once you’re satisfied with them, pack them away. I like to actually write down what I’m packing while I’m doing it. It helps me remember what has already gone into the suitcase! It also helps tremendously when you’re out and about shopping and thinking of what you already have with you.

I’m so relieved I packed all my favourite things for this particular trip to Paris because it was the same trip that he proposed. This was a little bit afterwards. I was so incredibly excited!!!

Why custom? With so many tulle skirts on the market, you might be wondering why I had one made! I have always wanted to wear a huge tulle skirt abroad and feel like a princess (typical- I know). However, I never found one that I felt was “poufy” enough for my taste. I’m a very girly girl and when I decided to wear a tulle skirt in Paris, I got one made that fit the description in my mind perfectly. It’s a common misconception that custom is always very expensive. Talk to your seamstress and see what she’s asking for a piece you’re longing for!

Funny story that really happened when I wore this outfit. Brendan had proposed me to the day before and we were going to go out for our celebratory dinner. I can’t recall the name of the restaurant but it’s a rooftop restaurant with views of the entire city. They didn’t (and still don’t) take reservations and so we waited in a packed line and decided to leave after twenty minutes because we were starving. We ended up going to an American themed Diner! The food was awful and it was hysterical. We laughed over glasses of wine and my tulle skirt happily bobbed with me. <3
