So many people ask me how and why I wear colour. I’m the type of person whose mood is determined by what I wear. If I wear bright and happy colors I feel bright and happy. I think living in New York made my appreciate my love of colour even more. Black reigns supreme here and almost all of my friends wear an exclusively black wardrobe. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with black but why should I avoid all the colors of the rainbow?
When I found these bight green 60’s pants I was feeling very down and I was at an antique mall. As soon as I tried them on I felt like a totally different girl. Much happier, brighter. Colour has a funny way of making everything seem brighter.
TIP: Invest in a bright thick cashmere sweater. I am known to many of my friends as being a cashmere hoarder but there’s nothing that wraps you in comfort like a bright cashmere. It’s my go to when I need to feel secure and even just feel a little better about myself.
There’s no real secret on how to wear colour. In my opinion there’s not right way and no wrong way. If you go overboard and go head to toe in colour- you’re making a statement. If you add pops of colour in your jewelry and accessories- that’s great too. Fashion is meant to be fun. I try not to think about how other people will view me so much anymore- I think about how I view myself. Do I feel good about myself in what I’m wearing? If it’s a strong yes- like in these pants- you better believe I’m strutting down the street in lime green.
